Yes, you can. You can downgrade it, just be sure to have your files in a backup driv or CD or in a a portable storage device. Downgrading will require you to do a CLEAN INSTALL (which means all of your files will be deleted).

I can't really see there being a huge gain in space by downgrading the version of XP. If you need to free up disk space delete unneeded files, and run Disk Cleanup. But if you wanted to you would probably have to erase the drive completely and then install XP Home onto the blank hard drive. But that would require a lot a of backing up of files on discs or other sources. I would just try to cleanup the hard drive with other methods.
