You need to download the appropriate drivers for your devices. Use the driver cd's that came with your system/motherboard and devices or download update drivers from manufacturers.

Seems like some of your devices are not installed correctly.

Right click my computer click properties go to hardware tab click device manager and see if there is any yellow ? or ! or red X try reinstalling drivers with up to date software
your sound card doesnt work because you probably have to re install all the necessary drivers...as for your internet im not to sure why that it...internet explorer is a very busy browser...try switching to something called mozilla firefox and see how it goes
Did you delete the previous copy of windows xp? If not, then the program is taking up considerable space on your computer, which would cause it to run slower. You probably need to reinstall the driver for the sound card--if it came with your computer, you can usually find it at the manufacturer's website.
Well, your sound card is not automatically re-installed - although XP usually recognizes most.

If your sound card is on board, the motherboard CD should have the drivers on it.

The fact that your computer is running slowly could be that malicious software already got onto it. You'll need to start from scratch, and here's the proper way to do it.

1. You need to download the latest service pack of xp - they'll have it available as a download and not as an update - you have to search the site a little, but you should find it. Then burn that service pack onto a CD.

2. Put all your data that you want to save together and burn it on CD's or data DVD's.

3. Wipe out your hard drive by reinitializing it. Maxtor and Western digital have utilities on their website and what you need to do is ZERO-WRITE your hard drive - the technical term is Low Level Format. This will wipe out any nasty virii that have infected your boot sector, so you get a clean start!

4. Reinstall XP. DO NOT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET YET! LEAVE THE MODEM TURNED OFF!!!.

5. Install the remaining drivers (sound card and anything that shows a ? in your DEVICE MANAGER).

6. Stick in the cd you made with the XP service pack and install it.

7. At this point, if you have Symantec GHOST or another image creating software, it would be a good time to make an image so that if something goes wrong once you connect to the net, you can at least revert back to this state and not have to start all over!

8. Set up your internet connection and IMMEDIATELY go to www.windowsupdate.com and update your XP to the max - this may take about 3-4 reboots and re-visits to the site before you're done.

9. Install your antivirus software and update the definitions IMMEDIATELY.

10. Now you're safe and should be able to install the rest of your stuff with no problem. If you created a ghost image back in step 7, at any point in time you'll be able to revert back to that image - save it on cd's or DVD's for future - just in case!
