xp pro was designed for use in a office environment and has more features then any other xp OS , media edition is designed to be more user friendly , for media (audio , video ,pictures)



btw out of all of them xp pro is the best

But still better than Vista (at the moment).
Buck gave you the correct answer XP Pro is more for office use and it gives you access to more features that are automatic on Media Edition or home.Windows Media Edition is exactly that it is geared towards all types of media use such as Pictures,DVDs ,Music etc. it is like Windows Home edition with more bells and whistles geared toward all types of media.
The biggest difference between the two is one has remote desktop access and media center is more of a audio video software.
